Heavy-Duty Equipment Upfitter

The Heavy-Duty Equipment Upfitter is a skilled technician responsible for transforming commercial truck chassis into fully functional, work-ready vehicles. This role involves installing a wide range of truck bodies, equipment, and specialty systems—including platforms, service bodies, cranes, liftgates, snowplows, salt spreaders, warning lights, and hydraulic components. The Upfitter plays a crucial role in ensuring each vehicle is properly assembled, safely configured, and ready to perform in demanding work environments across industries such as construction, utilities, municipalities, landscape, and fleet operations.

Heavy-Duty Equipment Upfitter-Lead

The Heavy-Duty Equipment Upfitter – Lead is a senior-level technician and working leader responsible for directing, supporting, and developing a team of Heavy-Duty Equipment Upfitters. This role oversees daily workflow, ensures high-quality workmanship, and provides hands-on technical expertise in turning commercial truck chassis into fully operational, work-ready vehicles. The Lead Upfitter is accountable for coordinating builds, training team members, monitoring quality and safety, and ensuring that customer and company specifications are met on every project. In addition to leadership responsibilities, this position performs advanced-level installation of truck bodies, hydraulic systems, electrical components, cranes, snowplows, liftgates, and other specialized work-truck equipment.

Parts Manager

Description: Lead and manage the branch parts department to support both external and internal customers while maximizing customer satisfaction and gross profit. Parts manager is also responsible for execution of process discipline required to maintain an optimized inventory.

Responsibilities:
Drive profitable parts growth through disciplined management of revenue, margins, expenses, overtime, and freight recovery.
Enforce pricing, discount, and margin guardrails; document and escalate exceptions to the General Manager and Sales & Pricing as required.
Lead and develop the parts team through hiring, scheduling, training, coaching, and performance management.
Foster a customer-focused culture by modeling and enforcing consistent counter standards, follow-up, and professional service behaviors.
Resolve customer and internal escalations, ensuring timely follow-up, accurate communication, and proper documentation in compliance with SOPs.
Partner daily with service leadership to manage parts constraints, hot repair orders, backorders, staging, and technician wait time.
Oversee repair order accuracy to reduce missed parts-to-labor capture, billing errors, and documentation gaps.
Manage inventory, cycle counts, returns, cores, credits, purchase orders, adjustments, and bin discipline.
Ensure timely and accurate financial administration, including invoice coding, month-end requirements, and management of open customer orders and invoices.
Maintain safety, environmental, and housekeeping standards across the parts department.
Execute company standards locally while escalating recurring issues, authority exceptions, and systemic risks through proper channels.
Maintain a consistent daily and weekly operating cadence focused on service execution, inventory control, escalation follow-up, and team coaching.

Qualifications:
High School graduate or equivalent.
Equivalent Automotive / Diesel industry experience
3 years of truck/automotive dealership experience
Strong background on in-person and telephone-based customer service
Demonstrated leadership and management ability
Sufficient product knowledge to be able to train and lead counter people selling medium and heavy duty truck parts.
Strong leadership and people management skills
Strong customer service and relationship-building skills (internal and external).
Problem-solving and decision-making skills under time pressure.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple demands (service, retail counter, fleet room).
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
